What are the top two interviewer biases and how can they be avoided? “In a structured interview process,” said Blair, “you want to rank the candidate fairly on all questions,” and not give undue weight to one particular component of the interview. As an example, Blair shared a scenario where a candidate answers well on a teamwork question. That answer, under the halo effect, prompts the interviewer to inflate other rankings in this bias.
