While job skills are important, don’t overlook the value of team and company fit. “The best hiring decision will account for a good match on all fronts,” advised Blair, “especially when you have a lot of very good candidates.” He shared the top two reasons that employees leave an organization, according to author Leigh Banham:

a) the job or workplace was not as the employee expected, and

b) a mismatch between the job and the person.

“Too often are candidates evaluated simply for the fit to job skills,” and not evaluated is their fit into the team he added.
