How has work changed for us in the past decade – and what changes can we foresee in the future? Where our parents and grandparents had job security and organizational loyalty, many of the current generations of workers deal with paradigms of alternate career paths and loyalty to task instead of organization. As human capital executives, we want to maintain and grow our high performing employees – how can we do this in a fragile economic environment?

There are now four generations of workers in the workplace. As the paradigms of work have changed, we as employers try harder to protect our best employees from toxic work places. Therefore, we need to understand what makes up the changes that have affected the state of the workplace in 2009 and beyond.
