Lavigna highlighted results from two other research projects undertaken by the Partnership for Public Service, including ‘Leaving Talent on the Table: Capitalizing on Intern Programs.’ “We examined the extent to which the federal government is utilizing internships as a source for top talent, as compared to the private sector,” he said. Private sector employers convert 50% of interns to permanent positions, versus public sector, which only converts 7%.
