One of IBM’s key strategies to ensure new employees are connected is through the use of social networking tools. They recognize that the way gen-xers and millennials communicate and interact is different. They promote collaboration, sharing and learning. New hire networks facilitate the connection of new hires to their work locations, peers, and IBM as a whole to build a sense of community. New talent also accesses podcasts, webcasts, blogs, wikis and RRS feeds. To track effectiveness, IBM conducts a new hire survey ten days after the employee’s start date. Eight questions address new employee satisfaction on topics of such as readiness of their equipment, workspace, manager, effectiveness of their connections coach and overall satisfaction. |
