Engagement Before Day One- Online Processes Behind Practical Onboarding July 07, 2009 |
|||||
One of IBM’s most popular onboarding programs is giving the new person a ‘friend’ in the company who will help them navigate the organization and make them feel ‘connected’. Prior to the new IBMer’s first day, the Connection Coach meets with the hiring manager to get the new employee’s name, phone number, start date and job role; then the connection coach calls the new employee and introduces himself/herself and sends an e-mail welcoming them and explaining their role. The Connections Coach makes time on their calendar so they are available as much as possible on the new IBMers first day on the job, and their role continues with emphasis on tasks during the employee’s first day, first week and first 60 days. |
