“Your talent brand is a promise; specifically, it’s a promise you are making to the country,” said Stelzner. The talent brand can be a competitive edge for top talent against both private and public sector employers. “You have to have a point of view for your brand to stick out,” he added. Assembling all of these components should create an employer’s most powerful recruiting tool.

“It’s really a left and a right brain exercise,” stated Garratt, “or an art and a science.” She counseled federal talent acquisition professionals to consider what their agency or department has to offer from an emotional, logical and altruistic perspective.
