As a result of moving into the retail space in the past year and a half, Dell has entered 43,000 retail doors, including distribution channels outside the U.S. This achieved business goal has affected Dell’s talent strategy, as well as the processes and structure talent uses to do their work. Attracting and identifying the right talent brings game changers into a retail organization; retaining them requires adapting an engagement strategy to benefit from talent’s best energy and aptitude. At Dell, “turning strategy into results through people,” includes engagement, mentoring and succession. Eric Paul, Director of Organization Development and Talent in Dell’s Consumer Division, said Dell engages talent to “capture their hearts and minds, to understand and believe in leaders’ and customers’ vision.” |
