To achieve consistency in how new executives were onboarded at John Deere, Mindy Moye stated their goal was to, “bullet proof the [onboarding] process.” Each week new senior managers and executives about to join the company are identified. Then, a meeting is set up to prepare the hiring manager. Sixteen weekly meetings for the new executive are set up to meet with key resources throughout the company. A follow-up meeting with the new executive further customizes their onboarding. Then an on-line survey is sent to all new executive hires to get their feedback on the onboarding process. This onboarding effort at the top of the house is intended to complement onboarding for all new salaried talent, and support integrated talent management. |
