An important stakeholder group at John Deere who receives results of the onboarding surveys is the staffing function; survey results help affirm they are making the right kind of hires.

Mindy Moye stated that an early discovery was improvement in having essentials (PC, phone, desk) set up on the new hire’s first day, “because people always remember their first day.” Hiring managers of new employees are surveyed 90 days after the new person starts, on questions such as, “Would you hire this person again?” Surveys at one year help to identify retention risks.
