Executive assimilation includes assessments and 360 multi-rater feedback to provide insight for the executive about how they are perceived to be performing against expectations. HR is enlisted to provide on location support. Metrics are being developed to examine issues that affect time to competency. For example, EMC organized a successful New Leader Summit to facilitate integrations of top management teams, and can track results from those executives.

A webcast poll conducted by the Human Capital Institute identified an opportunity to leverage metrics to keep onboarding on track. For executive onboarding, only 38% of respondents’ organizations used onboarding technology; however for onboarding of talent overall, 63% of respondents’ organizations use technology. A key opportunity for organizations that manage customized executive onboarding, as they fine-tune executive assimilation, is to include this strategic leadership group in their onboarding technology.
