“You had me at hello”- Executive Engagement through Effective Onboarding April 01, 2009 |
|||||
EMC’s beta version of executive assimilation and development (to follow the success of the initial onboarding initiative at headquarters) is designed to help the incoming executive navigate channels, political waters and relationships to make contributions that lead to results. The qualitative feedback gathered at four key checkpoints with executive development has resulted in planning for executive transitions before they happen—this is especially important in a decentralized organization. Now, at EMC globally, at the pre-succession planning phase, executive development reaches out to onboard a new executive before succession into a new role. From these successful leader practitioners at EMC, we took away an inspired purpose and clear outcome of executive assimilation—to accelerate new executives’ ability to navigate their new company or location assignment, by on-boarding and integrating them into the company culture, so they can make the expected contribution to business performance. |
