Additional research from DDI affirms the need for executive onboarding to provide support through key transitions. A Leadership Development benchmark study from the Institute of Executive Development (IED) indicated 86% of companies offer executive coaching, so combining onboarding with executive development (as they did at EMC) makes sense. IED’s study indicated only 43% of companies offer formal mentoring for executives, through cross-company mentoring, group mentoring and peer-to-peer mentoring. At EMC, mentors are assigned to the top 50 high potentials. |
