“You had me at hello”- Executive Engagement through Effective Onboarding April 01, 2009 |
|||||
EMC decided to proactively manage the new executive’s first year. Their onboarding initiative was called “Compass.” It began with helping people understand that the long-term commitment to new executive talent involved going beyond getting the new executive enrolled. Onboarding would help executives establish key relationships before they were needed, so they could succeed in a collaborative network. In addition, executive development at EMC offered guidance to help the new executive manage the peaks and valleys inevitably experienced in the first year, and to ensure the executive had support to manage potential derailers. |
